Components

Overview of Parts.jpeg

The Inner Core

  • Designed to be minimally intrusive to the visuals of the piece and give the illusion of a hollow core.

  • Maintains the alignment of the gears

  • Open to allow for a motor to power the gears.

The Geared Sphere (Truncated Octahedron)

  • This uses 8 custom bevel gears, as the dihedral angle (the face-to-face angle) of an octahedron is 109.47° and standard components would not be available.

  • Designed to allow for snap in components on top, such as the finger extensions.

The Finger Extensions

  • Extreme extensions of a line drawn from the center of a gear to the center of the tooth of a gear.

  • Fingers pass each other with about a millimeter or less of clearance between each other, except at the vertical axis crossing.

  • Removable and modular through snap fit attachments.
